Southwestern Wedding Inspiration | Painted Desert
I am excited to finally share this shoot with you! For one, it's one of my all time favorite shoots, and two, it was featured on one of my favorite blogs this week, Green Wedding Shoes!
Photographer Lisa O'dwyer and I got to chatting one day and were both inspired by a southwestern flare. We wanted to find two interpretations within this style so I came up with two looks. One as the Painted Desert: the bold, colorful look inspired by the southwest with corals and turquoise, and fresh whites. The second look was Refined Tribal... I'll be sharing that look this coming week!! In essence, we wanted to show that a bride can take a certain style or theme, and with the help of her vendors, get a unique look as she explores her chosen style or theme.
To perfect a Painted Desert look, I suggest keeping some elements simple to emphasize the bold elements. The bride is wearing Pallas by W-Too from Dora Grace Bridal. Her dress is complimented with white, mismatched, cotton blend dresses from Charming Charlie for the bridesmaids. They are perfect for a Southwestern look with the dolie-like cut outs in the dress. Keep the bridesmaids looking consistent by wearing neutral, mismatched wedges. Go big and bold with the jewelry and accessories to bring out the colorful beauty of the southwest. A lot of corals, teals, turquoises, fuchsias, yellows, and golds. Keep the hairstyles simple with an organic feel and pulled away from the face to emphasize glowing skin with pops of corals and pinks on the cheeks and lips. Don't forget about bouquets as they are essentially an accessory as well. Use a lot of color! Painted twigs and colorful ribbon with make them pop!
